After careful consideration and review of all applications received for the ECC Membership scholarship, we are excited to announce that we have chosen UK based Celebrant Angie Jones as our first ever awardee.
Having been a Celebrant for a year now, Angie struck us with her considerate approach to her profession and her determination to learn as much as she can to be an all-round, excellent Celebrant business owner.
“I am so delighted and honoured to have been awarded the first ever scholarship for the European Celebrants Collective. Continuous professional development and lifelong learning have always been so important to me. In a previous career in my twenties I was told, “When you think you know everything, you show you’ve learned nothing,” and these have proven to be very wise words indeed!” Angie said on learning of the news.
The Membership scholarship was created to give new Celebrants the chance to develop their business practices and skills as a Celebrant. We recognise that following one’s passion to become a Celebrant isn’t always financially easy.
Once a training course has been paid for, a previous job left or reduced in hours to make way for a new career, it’s easy to feel a substantial dip in income, before that all-important upturn begins. Not to mention the stationery costs, marketing and printing costs, website design, wedding fairs, petrol expenses –Â they all do mount up. So we wanted to be able to offer this opportunity to someone whose start-up budget may already be at a stretch.
We were overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of the applications received and this encouraged us to make our difficult decision after much thought and consideration.
We are equally excited to have Angie onboard as a member and our first scholarship awardee. We’re hoping that our learning programmes, our features and resources, forums and networks will help her to thrive and achieve her goals as a professional Celebrant and that she can continue to invest in herself with additional knowledge.
“This award will enable me to continue to develop my business whilst being able to learn from and network with some of the leading names in the Celebrant industry, and for this I am indebted. I really look forward to making full use of the opportunities which have been awarded to me. Thank you to everyone responsible for this excellent initiative – I am so grateful,” Angie continued.
