You missed out!

  • Three days of creative immersion

  • Three days of community and connection

  • Three days of confidence boosting & learning new celebrant skills

For our fifth Creative Celebrant workshop our theme is THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX.

We're going to turn things on their head and a look at new ways of doing old things.

As a seasoned and experienced celebrant (an oldie!), your days as a fledgling were a while ago! And although you've since found your feet and matured into a fabulous celebrant, perhaps it's time for a freshen up! Perhaps it's time to start thinking outside the box!

When you've been doing something for a while, it's easy to get stuck in a samey-samey way of doing it!

This workshop will help you to inject new ways of thinking and new ways of working into your celebrant practice and performance.

If you're feeling like it's time to breathe some fresh air into your celebrant business, these three days will do it!

As a newbie, you might not be long out of training, or may you have taken your first steps down the celebrant path. Your confidence might be a bit up and down and all over the place and you might need some reassurance with how to create ceremony as a celebrant.

Our Thinking Outside The Box sessions will give you some new angles and approaches to being a celebrant and creating ceremony.

In your surrounding yourself with fellow newbies and more experienced celebrants too, you'll start to feel more confident in your own celebrant skin and you'll get on track with where you want to be with your celebrant communication, practice and performance.

Three packed days of value, education and fun!

I've attended two of these events now and I'm never disappointed. I always come away with a toolkit of ideas and inspiration, but just as important to me, I love the community of like-minded celebrants and the spirit of collaboration that's always there.

Anita Broad

2024 workshop attendee

I signed up with the expectation that I would probably not attend everything, and the knowledge that I have signed up for things in other contexts in the past and not stayed till the end. Often out of boredom or disappointment, or expectations not being met. However, I had 100% attendance to this one, and anticipated each session with pleasure. I was never disappointed or bored. And learned a lot.

Kay Ray

2024 workshop attendee

The great thing about this workshop is not just the fantastic input from the speakers, it's having the opportunity to meet and share ideas with such a lovely group of celebrants who all support and inspire each other. Even if you know you can't set aside 3 days in one go, the fact the sessions are available on catch-up means you can access them as and when you have time to do so.

Clare O

2023 workshop attendee

I am very happy that I convinced myself to attend this workshop and made time for it. Although I know that coming to CC events is NEVER a waste of time, ever!

thinking outside the box: what does is actually means as a celebrant?
with
claire & natasha

Claire and Natasha will kickstart the worksop with this session where they will explore what thinking outside the box actually means when it comes to being a celebrant. This session will challenge you to think about the ways you work - your established practices and go-to approaches and to see how you can change things up in the areas you feel need a shake up. And for newer celebrants, this will be a great session for helping you to widen your approach to your current celebrant practice and performance.

Think Like a Quallie- A creative injection for your planning sessions with
fi egan

When we think about 'creativity' as celebrants, we usually focus on the outputs - our scripts and rituals.  But what about the inputs? Taking inspiration from the tools and techniques used by qualitative researchers, we'll explore 'Ten Top Tips' to get the best out of your planning meetings.  By the end of this session you'll have a toolbox to help you brush up on your interviewing approach, quickly establish rapport with your clients, create a safe space for storytelling, dig deeper into the human insights and light the creative sparks that make for an unforgettable ceremony.

Out with the old in with the new
NATASHA & claire

Symbolic elements, guest participation, storytelling, music, song and dance! How can we challenge ourselves to think outside of the box when it comes to adding additional elements to a ceremony? Can we think forward to the future and visualise what ceremony will look like?

In this session, Natasha and Claire will challenge you to create new ceremony elements from scratch or take old, tried and tested elements and breathe new life into them.

rituals: enhancing funerals and weddings with movement and sensory experiences with
rosalie kuyvenhoven

Since ancient times, dance and the engagement of all our senses have been an integral part of rituals and ceremonies. In modern, non-religious ceremonies, however, the focus often leans on words and music. This creates an exciting opportunity to reintroduce elements that help bring the participants in contact with their entire being: mind, body and spirit. By doing so, we can foster deeper connections with ourselves, strengthen bonds within the community, and even open the door to transformation and healing.

In this workshop we explore innovative ways to incorporate movement and sensory experiences into funeral and wedding ceremonies. Inspired by real ceremony examples, we’ll uncover how engaging our bodies and senses can enhance the experience of these meaningful moments. Together, we will discover creative ritual activities to enrich your celebrant toolkit.

The celebrant's voice
with
helen wilson

It's a fact that as celebrants we do not think about our voices enough, considering it's one of our most important celebrant tools! In this session, Funeral Celebrant and Voice Actor, Helen Wilson is going to get you loving and enjoying your voice! With a mix of fun games, vocal exercises and warm ups, she will also get you reading ceremony extracts in different ways to hone and find your true celebrant voice. Expect lots of fun, laughter and self-discovery!

daily Q&As with
Claire & Natasha

Inspired by what you've learned and want to discuss it? Or maybe you have a burning question you'd like to ask? This is the place to be. We'll open the floor to you at the end of each day.

surprise ceremony scripts with
 natasha johnson

It all started with Natasha's first ever couple who told her that they wanted the ceremony script to be a surprise. And as nerve-wracking as it was they loved it! This was 18 years ago and in that time Natasha has only ever sent a handful (3) scripts to couples and families before their big day.

In this session, she will take you through her process of working with her clients to create a ceremony script that they do not see before their big day. She will share the pros and cons of working in this way and how this way helps her to be at her creative best!

What Happens When Something Happens? with
JANhEather urquhart

In this fun and interactive workshop, Heather Urquhart from AndAlso Improv will invite us to explore how to embrace the unexpected with confidence and creativity using the tools of improvisation. Through lighthearted games and exercises, you’ll learn techniques to stay present, adapt in the moment, and transform surprises into opportunities—skills that are invaluable for celebrants. Join this session to laugh, connect, and discover how “yes, and” can bring ease and spontaneity to your role when something happens!

fancy a script-less ceremony? with
NATASHA & claire

The thought makes you feel sick, right? Or maybe you feel a little giddy with excitement at the prospect of being script-free at a ceremony! In this session, Natasha and Claire going to get you to consider how you could be script-free, or script-light in some of your ceremony practice. How could you do it and why? And in this session, they'll get you delivering short ceremonial extracts without a script to call on your creativity and see how it feels to perform without a script in front of you! Do you dare!?

I would definitely recommend the Creative Celebrant Workshop to both new and existing celebrants. The workshop was fascinating, enriching and inspirational and I came away armed with so much knowledge and new ideas for my celebrancy career. It was worth its weight in gold in terms of stretching my imagination, developing a positive mindset and connecting with other celebrants. It was also a lot of fun!

This event was certainly value for money. The selection of speakers was varied with something for everyone. Even topics that I thought were not going to be of interest to me, turned out to be!

Lynda Gibson

2021 workshop attendee

I signed up for the Creative Celebrant Workshop to learn new ways to improve our ceremonies and to innovate as celebrants. I can only rave about the Celebrants Collective and its leaders Natasha and Claire, and I had no doubt that the Creative Celebrant Workshop would be inspirational, useful and fun. I wasn't able to attend in person; I went through the video playbacks and really regretted missing them live. The sessions stoke the imagination and creativeness even of a vintage officiant like me. Guest speakers were absolutely fabulous, each an expert in their creative field whether writing, acting, performing imagery… all giving attendees new information, and alternative views for improving our craft. I personally came away with many new thoughts on who I am as a celebrant. If you're a celebrant of any kind, this is a must attend workshop.
