Come and write your socks off at this year's Creative Celebrant Workshop
Three fun-filled, hands-on days to help you write the magic back into your ceremony scripts and business content.
Here’s What You’ll Get When You Sign Up
This March, we’re turning the workshop into a cosy virtual writer’s room where we’ll spend three days immersing ourselves in finding and honing our writing voices. This is very much a hands-on workshop, with lots of writing, trying things out, sharing and learning by doing, together.
We’ll cover all aspects of ceremony writing and practice, from weddings to funerals and everything beyond, as well as how we sell and market ourselves too, using our written voices.
The countdown is on...
You missed out!
March 16-18
09.30-17.00 UK TIME
Wherever you've got internet!
Three days of creative immersion
Three days of community and connection
Three days of confidence boosting & learning new celebrant skills
For our sixth Creative Celebrant workshop our theme is
'IN YOUR OWN WORDS'
We’ll be covering all aspects of ceremony writing and practice, from weddings to funerals and everything beyond, as well as how we sell and market ourselves too, using our written voices.
The workshop is designed for both wedding and funeral celebrants, whether you’re currently in training or already working and wanting to refresh, deepen or expand your skills. Whether writing is your jam, or you still lack a bit of confidence in your writing skills and abilities, this workshop will point you in the right direction and get you feeling genuinely inspired to write and communicate in your own unique voice.
Via games and playful tasks, activities and exercises, sharing and collaboration, you will finish this workshop feeling motivated, excited and ready to write the magic back into your work. You’ll even walk away with freshly written content you’ve created during the workshop!
Three packed days of value, education and fun!
After the first day, I literally carried on and finished a ceremony I'd had a block on. On the second day, I changed my couple's questionnaire and today I've been able to really critically look at a ceremony I'm doing on Saturday to see what I might do differently and how I might include more spaces and directed focus during the symbolic elements. So it's already made a huge difference. Thank you!

Thank you for this event and the good energy ! It was a pleasure to meet all these wonderful personalities and think about our amazing job. I can't wait to experiment with some of the ideas I've discovered during these days .

I've attended two of these events now and I'm never disappointed. I always come away with a toolkit of ideas and inspiration, but just as important to me, I love the community of like-minded celebrants and the spirit of collaboration that's always there.

I signed up with the expectation that I would probably not attend everything, and the knowledge that I have signed up for things in other contexts in the past and not stayed till the end. Often out of boredom or disappointment, or expectations not being met. However, I had 100% attendance to this one, and anticipated each session with pleasure. I was never disappointed or bored. And learned a lot.

The great thing about this workshop is not just the fantastic input from the speakers, it's having the opportunity to meet and share ideas with such a lovely group of celebrants who all support and inspire each other. Even if you know you can't set aside 3 days in one go, the fact the sessions are available on catch-up means you can access them as and when you have time to do so.

MEET YOUR WORKSHOP HOSTS
Claire Bradford
HOST & WORKSHOP LEADER
Natasha Johnson
HOst & workshop leader
With over 20 years celebrant experience between them, and years of facilitating workshops on and offline, Claire and Natasha will gently guide you through these three days drawing on their deep understanding of ceremony, language and what really works in practice.
Over the three days of the workshop, whilst creating a safe, friendly and fun environment, they'll engage their shared experience of writing, holding and delivering hundreds of weddings, funerals and other types of ceremonies, to support and encourage celebrants to find their own confident and unique voice.
And here's what they'll be doing
With these sessions and more, your creative juices are really going to flow.
Come for the creativity, stay for the community!
Claire and Natasha will kickstart the workshop with this session where they will explore what thinking outside the box actually means when it comes to being a celebrant. This session will challenge you to think about the ways you work - your established practices and go-to approaches and to see how you can change things up in the areas you feel need a shake up. And for newer celebrants, this will be a great session for helping you to widen your approach to your current celebrant practice and performance.
This session sets the tone for day two, shifting focus from ceremony writing into the business side of celebrant life. Through fun, creative warm-up exercises, you’ll loosen up your thinking and start articulating what you do in a fresh, confident way. Using playful prompts, you’ll get into a business mindset that still feels human, authentic and you. It’s a light, energising start that prepares you to tackle website copy, social media and other business writing with clarity and ease.
This session is designed to take celebrants beyond familiar territory and open up the wider possibilities of what ceremony can be. Through creative warm-ups and group brainstorming, we’ll explore ceremonies that exist outside weddings and funerals, from life transitions and identity shifts to endings, beginnings and moments that don’t yet have a well-worn script.
Starting with a fast, expansive brainstorm, we’ll map the many ways ceremony shows up in modern life and reflect on why these moments matter now. Expect maximum inspiration!
This session helps you uncover the voice you already have and learn how to use it with intention and flexibility. Through fast, imperfect writing sprints and simple rewrites in different tones, you’ll explore how your words can shift while still sounding like you. We’ll then take those openings off the page and into the room, editing for clarity, rhythm and spoken delivery. By the end, you’ll feel the difference between writing that looks good and writing that truly lands when spoken and trust yourself to do both.
This session helps you get clear on what you actually want to say about your work and how to say it differently depending on where and who it’s for. We’ll explore how your message shifts across formats, from an Instagram bio and a 60-second elevator pitch to party conversations, directory listings, podcast introductions and, finally, your About page. With the focus on “words that work for you when you’re not in the room,” you’ll identify what’s essential, what’s flexible, and how to speak to different audiences with confidence.
In this session celebrant swill choose one realistic, non-traditional ceremony that genuinely interests them and begin shaping it using a simple ceremony design framework. Rather than writing straight away, the focus is on structure, emotional purpose and flow, understanding why the ceremony is happening, who it’s for, what it needs to give, and what should shift by the end.
By the end of the session, you will have moved from an idea to clear ceremony shape, building confidence in designing meaningful ceremonies well beyond their comfort zone.
In this session, you’ll practise shaping real-life material into stories that actually land with an audience. Working from a wedding or funeral prompt, you’ll be given some prompts and challenged to turn it into a focused, compelling narrative. With clear creative constraints around structure and restraint, you’ll learn how to cut the waffle, choose what matters, and tell stories that feel human, intentional and memorable.
This session focuses on writing marketing content that does some of the heavy lifting for you. You’ll work on something real and useful, either a blog post you’ve been avoiding, or a set of short website sections designed to filter and attract the right clients. With a clear, practical approach, you’ll create content that aligns with your existing messaging and speaks directly to the people you actually want to hear from. The focus is on usable words you can publish, not half-finished ideas saved for “one day.”
In this session, we move from ceremony design into writing. You'll start fleshing out a script or portion of script for one of the non-traditional ceremonies explored in the previous session. With a surprise creative twist added into the mix, you’ll be challenged to write with intention, flexibility and imagination, while still keeping the ceremony grounded and meaningful and most importantly, tapping into your unique creative voice. The focus is on translating ideas into words that work in the real world, building confidence in writing ceremonies that sit outside of the familiar and proving to yourself that you can do it! You can!

I would definitely recommend the Creative Celebrant Workshop to both new and existing celebrants. The workshop was fascinating, enriching and inspirational and I came away armed with so much knowledge and new ideas for my celebrancy career. It was worth its weight in gold in terms of stretching my imagination, developing a positive mindset and connecting with other celebrants. It was also a lot of fun!

I signed up for the Creative Celebrant Workshop to learn new ways to improve our ceremonies and to innovate as celebrants. I can only rave about the Celebrants Collective and its leaders Natasha and Claire, and I had no doubt that the Creative Celebrant Workshop would be inspirational, useful and fun. I wasn't able to attend in person; I went through the video playbacks and really regretted missing them live. The sessions stoke the imagination and creativeness even of a vintage officiant like me. Guest speakers were absolutely fabulous, each an expert in their creative field whether writing, acting, performing imagery… all giving attendees new information, and alternative views for improving our craft. I personally came away with many new thoughts on who I am as a celebrant. If you're a celebrant of any kind, this is a must attend workshop.
