What life and business lessons has this pandemic taught you?

celebrant business, celebrant life

Whilst I’m no Miss Polly Positivity 24/7, I do like to try and see the positives in situations where I can and to always look on the plus side of everything.

With this absolute shitshow (I’m sorry but there is NO other way to describe it!) that’s been going on in the world since around the start of the year, there has been plenty of time to wallow in the negativity of world events, which at times has felt like there was no space for positivity.

And trust me, I have wallowed. I’ve fretted, I’ve complained. I’ve got angry. I’ve buried my head under the pillow. I’ve worried. I worry, BUT thankfully, I’ve got to a point where I could step out of the negativity and separate all of the angst and start to see and believe that some good will come out of all of this.

When all of this is over (it will be over one day), all we can do is to look back on this moment of time and think about what we’ve taken away from it. What we’ve learnt from it. What it’s shown us. To look at this as an experience, which although we never ever want to repeat, we can take comfort in the fact that we’ve come away from it as different people with a different way of looking at life and looking at our business, too.

There is nothing like a pandemic and its fallout to make you look at your life in new ways, and hopefully better ways. For me, I now know that I don’t need to work as much as I do. That I can do a four-day week and my world won’t fall apart. In fact it will be enriched.

That I can also even do just a few hours of work a day and everything will be okay. I haven’t yet got this into practice though  (lol!) but I know it’s achievable and I want to achieve it, now more than ever. Facing a pandemic, being quarantined at home and having to homeschool and be with my son all day, every day, has shown me this. As well as how precious that time with family is.

Yesterday, we had our monthly group coaching call where we were discussing our fears and it was such a nice exercise to be able to get those worries out in the open, to find out what the worries are showing us and then making a plan to move forward. And it’s much like what we can take from this pandemic.

So I’ll ask you, if you put your clarity glasses on for one minute, could you answer what life and business lessons this pandemic taught you or shown you? And what are you going to do about it?

How do you now feel about your celebrant business?

How do you feel about your boundaries?

How do you now feel about how you work?

How do you now feel about what you charge?

Do you still love being a celebrant? Do you still want to be a celebrant?

Have you found that your work-life balance needs turning on its head?

Have you realised you need to make more money? Or manage your money better?

What have you learnt?

However this pandemic has left you feeling, the best thing that you can do is to use this time to get absolutely clear on what you want out of life and your business, to prepare yourself for it and to get ready to take action and make it happen. To take back control of how you want to live your life and run your business.
